Crochet a Bouquet
of Flowers

These flowers are a snap to crochet.  They require little yarn so you can use up scraps.  I like to crochet them when I am visiting my grandchildren.  The flowers keep me busy when I get bored and when the kids ignore me.  Often the kids will check in with me to watch my progress.  I always give the flowers away, and sometimes just leave them laying around to be discovered.  Who doesn’t like a flower?

materials
●H crochet hook
●worsted weight/4-ply yarn
●buttons for centers
●needle and thread to sew on buttons
●tapestry need and scissors for finishing

crochet abbreviations
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc -double crochet
tc – triple crochet
st or sts – stitch or stiches
sl st – slip stitch
tog – together
beg – beginning of row

directions

round one
Leaving a 12-inch tail (use this to attach the flower to something else, or else just snip it off at the end and weave the rest in), ch 2.
Make 5 sc in 1st ch,
1 sl st into the first sc.
round two
In the first st:  ch 4, 3 tc, ch 4, sl st.
In each of the remaining sts:  sl st, ch 4, 3 tc, ch 4, sl st.  When you have five petals.  Fasten off.

finishing
Sew a button to the center if you like–it does add extra interest.  Consider sewing the flower onto a shoe, a dress, a hair clip or . . .?
