Crochet a Snow Storm of Snowflakes

This is a very easy crochet pattern.  I consider this one seasonal and make them fall through winter.  As with my other little crochet projects, I indulge during down time when visiting my grandchildren and leave the finished snowflakes behind for them to find as they will and hopefully trigger memories of Grandma.  I did discover that kitties really enjoy these snowflakes, too.

materials
●G crochet hook
●worsted weight/4-ply yarn, or any other yarn adjusted to the proper size hook

crochet abbreviations
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc -double crochet
tc – triple crochet
st or sts – stitch or stiches
sl st – slip stitch
tog – together
beg – beginning of row

directions

round 1
Ch 5.
Join into first ch with a sl st to form a circle.
round 2
Ch 4 (this counts as a hdc + ch 2).
Make 5 half double crochets with a chain 2 into the circle.
round 3
Working into the 6 spaces you just created, begin with a sl st into the first space to the left of your hook.
make the first snowflake cluster
Ch 3 + sl st into same space.
Ch 5 + sl st into same space.
Ch 3 + sl st into same space.
make 5 more clusters
Ch 1 + sl st into next space.
Ch 3 + sl sth into same space.
Ch 5 + sl st into same space.
Ch 3 + sl st into same space.
end
Ch 1, sl st into the first sl st of this round.  To end, either bind off, or ch 10 and then sl st again to make a loop for hanging.
