Snickerdoodles
From the recipe box of travel writer Carole Terwilliger Meyers.
These are lots of fun to make with young children, who are usually well skilled at using thei little hands to roll the dough into balls.
1 stick butter, soft
½ cup Crisco
Cream.
1 ½ cup sugar
Add a little at a time, beating until fluffy.
2 eggs
Beat in one at a time.
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
2¾ cup flour
Stir in. Chill 1 hour. Then Roll heaping teaspoons of dough into balls.
3 Tbl. sugar
1 Tbl. cinnamon
Mix in a small bowl. Roll balls in mix and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
400 degrees, 10 minutes.
Makes 36 cookies.
